The Charles River Center provides innovative opportunities, services, and supports for over 950 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury and mental health challenges, in the Metrowest and Southeast regions of Massachusetts.
We are a non-profit employment support agency seeking a full time (40 hours per week) Employment Consultant to support job seekers with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Assignments will be a combination of remote and in-person meeting.
Flexible schedule during day time hours, Monday- Friday.
Employment Consultants support job seekers with disabilities to achieve their goals related to employment.
We accomplish this by working with job seekers on a one-to-one basis to assess their interests, preferences, strengths, and support needs.
Employment Consultants provide direct support through job coaching (provide onsite support for your clients' work as they learn the responsibilities of the role), case management and job development in the community.
Support job seekers by providing vocational skill training such as interview preparation, writing resumes and cover letters.
Employment Consultants also play an important role in building relationships with the business community to find the best possible job matches.
This includes networking and outreach to educate local businesses on the benefits of hiring a person with a disability and learning the hiring needs of area employers to refer job seekers to.
Responsibilities:
Accurately evaluate the skills, interests, and abilities of individuals.
Effectively support individuals to meet their goals in an employment, educational, and/or community setting.
Utilize personal and professional networks to build relationships with employers and community partners.
Foster relationships and provide the support necessary for retention and growth, with emphasis on career enhancement and development.
Assist individuals to become self-sustaining and achieve maximum independence.
Document the progress of individuals and communicate growth and barriers to success with individuals' support teams.
Qualifications High school or equivalent (Required), Bachelor's in related field- human services, psychology, rehabilitation, sociology, education- (Preferred) +1 year experience in human service field (Preferred) Driver's License (Required) US work authorization (Preferred) Possess interpersonal skills and professional appearance necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, individuals served, management and customers.
Excellent oral and written skills; display communication that is complimentary to teaching strategies with individuals who have developmental disabilities.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Travel to multiple locations daily and transport participants as needed utilizing own vehicle.
Ability to work independently with periodic guidance and direction.
Previous experience working with people with disabilities.
Previous experience with job development/employment support preferred.
Acceptable background checks & driving record required.
Must have an insured, reliable vehicle and valid Driver's License.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
